Capacity Building:

Capacity building plays a very critical role during the implementation of all FABIO programs. It is one of FABIO's principles never to distribute bicycles or bicycle ambulances without having ensured that the beneficiaries have the capacity to maintain the bicycle and to use it efficiently. For people of industrialized countries this might sound profane but the level of education of most of our beneficiaries living in rural areas is extremely low. Therefore, FABIO has to point out how to use, store and repair bicycles and in case the bicycles or bicycle ambulances are given to communities, it has to at least propose structures of administration of the bicycle, saving money for repairs etc. to make sure the donors' money increases quality of life sustainably.

Well aware of the increasing unemployment rate among the youth in Uganda, FABIO in partnership with Two Wheeled Foundation, based in Boston, USA, has come up with the so called “Capacity Building Program”.

Under this program, plans are under way to develop bicycle workshops to provide the youth with skills in appropriate bicycle technology, an effective use of bicycles and entrepreneurship.
